DuckDuckGo see’s highest figures so far

There’s a new search engine in town and it’s getting more popular every day. DuckDuckGo is a search engine that keeps all our searches entirely private and it seems to be attracting more and more consumers. In fact, a recent report by the Guardian has stated that the incognito search engine has reached 4 million enquiries a day and over a billion of us searched with it last year.

Since the PRISM scandal and the unveiling of how the NSA were tracking searches made on the larger search engines, the number of searches made on DuckDuckGo has doubled. January 7th proved to be the search engines biggest success so far with 4.5 million searches. The key to DuckDuckGo success is clearly down to the general public’s views on privacy. They don’t collect IP addresses like Google or Yahoo and searches aren’t tracked.

Of course it would be foolish to consider DuckDuckGo as a realistic competitor to Google at this point in time, though there’s no reason why the new kid on the block can’t rise to the challenge and make the most of this attractive selling point. Google rake in over a billion searches a day which sets the bar pretty high for DuckDuckGo but you’d think that, with further awareness surrounding internet privacy, those who detach from Google may have DuckDuckGo next in line.
