Google Auto-Detecting Content Authorship

Today I came across something I hadn’t seen before or heard anyone talk about. It’s to do with Google Authorship and getting your photo to appear in the search results for content that you’ve written.

Normally you have to create a two-way association between your content and your Google+ profile by linking the two together.

But today I saw my photo appear on content which I haven’t explicitly informed Google is mine.

That result is for an article I wrote on the Eye on Spain website which I sold last year. All of the articles that I’ve written for the that website display my photo in the search results!

I have never associated any of that content with myself so is this something we will be seeing more of going forward?
