Google's latest algorithm changes

Search Engine Land today reported on the changes in Google’s algorithm for the past two months. Usually the big G release their lists of changes on a monthly basis however as there was no such release in July we seem to have received a bumper update this time round. But what does this mean?

Some of the changes are in response to overwhelming complaints from those in the industry, such as the outcry over so-called “site clustering” whereby some domains have been completely dominating the results. This has gotten a mention from Google although we’re still seeing certain domains completely dominating the SERP for certain terms, particularly for highly competitive terms such as in the travel industry.

Cynics have suggested this is an attempt by Google to have smaller businesses channel their budgets into PPC advertising whilst the big boys take all of the organic results but of course there is no evidence to suggest this is the case, yet…
